Youth Break

This program is based in Launceston Tasmania

The Youth Break Program is available to young people of about 15 to 25 years who have an intellectual disability, a physical disability and / or behavioural or learning difficulty.

Youth Break aims to give young people some time-out with other young people. Recent activities include cooking, camping, games, sports, BBQs, trips to the coast and to wildlife parks.

Support is provided to a group of about 6 young people, with 2 staff on duty. The accommodation includes shared rooms (2 beds per room) and shared bathrooms (3 wheelchair accessible bathrooms available).

When

The program runs each weekend from 4pm Friday to 3pm Sunday.

Fees

There are no fees for participation, although some personal spending money might be need for attending events

How to apply

To access the program your family carer must be registered with the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (1800 052 222).

There is no charge for participation, although some personal spending money may be required for attending venues or small purchases in the community.

You are welcome to arrange a time to visit St Michaels. This will give you the opportunity to see the facilities for yourself, meet some of the staff, and talk with some of the clients who attend our services.
